For agents
Volca in brief
This page is for software agents, search systems, and humans who want a concise, faithful summary of what Volca is, what it does today, and what it does not claim yet.
What Volca is
Volca is an early-stage system for transparent environmental computation. In the near term, it is strongest as a tool for searching, inspecting, comparing, and understanding real environmental and LCA datasets and structures.
What Volca does well today
- Fast query and browse over serious datasets
- Transparent inspection of trees, graphs, inventories, mappings, and structures
- Practical comparison and substitution workflows
- Support for technical workflows and builder-facing usage
What Volca emphasizes
- Inspectability over black-box outputs
- Proof over claims
- Technical credibility over generic marketing language
- Open infrastructure and interoperability over lock-in
What Volca is not claiming yet
- Not a polished compliance suite
- Not a generic sustainability platform
- Not a mature enterprise workflow product
- Not a public redistributor of restricted datasets
Data and compatibility summary
Public proof should rely on legally shareable datasets such as BAFU. Volca may support important licensed datasets such as Ecoinvent and Agribalyse, but those should be described with a bring-your-own-license posture rather than as publicly bundled data.
